Mayoral Responsibilities

The Mayor is the chief executive of the Village and serves for four years. The Mayor is vested with powers under New York State Village Law. Some of the mayoral duties include:

-Presiding at the meetings of the Board of Trustees;

-The Mayor has the right to vote; 

-The Mayor has no veto power over legislative action of the Board of Trustees;

-The Mayor appoints all department heads and non-elected employees with the approval of the Trustees;

-Enforcing the Village Code, rules and regulations through various Village Departments such as the Police Department and Code Enforcement;

-Intervening in any and all actions, at the direction of the Board of Trustees, where deemed necessary to protect the rights of the Village and its inhabitants. 

Mayor Jerry Larsen was elected on September 15, 2020.
